The Sims 3 modding community is huge with different mods for all the DLCs.

Delete the Mods folder and start again from Step 1.įind a mod that you want to play with. If they are not working as intended, you need to start over. There should be two folders, one called “Overrides” and other one called “Packages”, and one file called Resource.cfg. A new folder called “Mods” will now appear. Mac OS: /Users//Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Įxtract the FrameworkSetup.zip file you just downloaded by right-clicking on the FrameworkSetup.zip file and choosing Extract Here. Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ The default location of that directory is as follows for different operation systems: Now, carry that file into the directory of The Sims 3 in My Documents. First of all, download FrameworkSetup.zip. Go to The Sims 3 Folder in My Documents: NOT in Program Files!īefore you try to mod your game, you need to make your game accept custom content. (the framework download from MTS also includes two "test" files so you can make sure the framework has installed correctly, I don't know if TSR has something like that or not)Īlso, did you try just copy/pasting the whole mod folder from the old sims 3 folder? Or was there a specific reason that you didn't want to do it that way?Īlso also, did you delete the cache files in your sims 3 folder after putting in your mods? With some mods that makes a difference, others not so much. The Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ folder – note the contents are folders like DCBackup, DCCache, InstalledWorlds, Saves, etc. Try re-downloading the framework by itself from TSR & put it in the folder manually. If the file didn't download quite correctly, it wouldn't be read by the game, but it could still show up in windows explorer. Since you had your mods working before, I'm going to assume you checked to make sure the framework file was installed in the right folder & that TSR didn't do something daft like make a mods folder sans framework.Ī corrupted framework file might also do it. I wouldn't expect the site you get the mods setup from to make a difference, but I guess it's worth trying the MTS one & putting the CC packages from TSR in manually. I made my mods folder & put in the framework file "manually" with the instructions/files from MTS -> here. I was doing some experimenting the other day & copy/pasted my mods folder into a new sims 3 folder without any issues, however, I don't use TSR.
